Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
The Stewardship Committee has been very active in the past weeks and has created a new subcommittee. Believing that our call to stewardship involves more than just our money, we have created the Time and Talents Committee which had a meeting on 9/17/06. The intent of the group is to explore the ways in which we, as God's people, can share our time and talents as well as our financial support with those around us. The attending members at this meeting were: Don Tack, Susan Wise, Steve Lindberg, Bud Thumma, Elsie Knaub and Robert Miller .
We would like to share with you some of the ways that were suggested for sharing our many blessings with others.
1. A work party is needed to help paint the window frames at the church.
2. A work party could form and do simple repairs and do maintenance work on elderly people’s homes.
3. A group could travel to WVA for one week and help repair Appalachian homes devastated by flooding and poverty.
4. People could research our baptismal and marriage records and determine where these people are attending church today. It is the congregation’s duty to follow up on these records over time.
5. Someone could provide rides to appointments, help shop for groceries, and write Christmas cards for those who are unable.
6. Carlisle CARES—We can provide two people for each night May 1—May 31 at the church to open and close the doors and acquaint those staying the night where all the church facilities are located.
7. We can develop our relationship with God by interacting with other people and reaching out to new people in our community.
8. Project SHARE— people can glean vegetables from nearby farms and donate the produce to Project Share.
9. Someone could provide help with filling out income tax returns for the elderly or others who have difficulty doing so on their own.
10. We can provide last minute help to other groups in preparing food and serving (for example, for 20,000 veterans at Penn State)
